Meso Development's mission is to extend humanitarian service to the people of Central America through service and by teaching important business and life skills to instill a vision for improving the quality of life. We hope the results of our efforts will create a perpetual network of self-reliant leaders and families in Central America.

Our mission is evident through service in our two programs.

Meso Development firmly believes that the key factor to improving lifestyles and families is through education. It is for this reason that we have created an opportunity for local youth to further their education through classes designed to improve their value in the labor market. Our educational programs are the core focus of the organization.

Our educational programs are specifically targeted to help those people that are entering the job market. This includes college aged students, young men, young women, some high school aged students, and many young parents looking for a better life for their families.

By working closely with local schools and churches, we offer courses in English as a Second Language (ESL) and are currently developing courses in basic and advanced computer skills, micro enterprise development, and leadership and management. These skills are seen as the most needed for improving a young man or woman's opportunity to earn a greater income in the formal economy of Central America.

Each year we send interns for four months at a time to help build stronger communities and educate future family leaders and thus strengthen the temporal, economic, and social well being of the people of Central America.

Volunteers work closely with communities in Central America to improve living conditions for families in less developed regions. Many of these projects take place in rural villages well beyond the reach of other development organizations. The standards of community development that Meso Development maintains focuses around the ability of neighbors and families to discover their own solutions to the problems and challenges that face them each day. Volunteers work with members of the community to discover for themselves how best they can improve their living standard. Then, with the help of our donors, we provide families with the resources necessary to improve their lives.

We seek out those communities with a vision and a desire to improve, but with a lack of resources, a lack of knowledge, and with the help of our donors and volunteers we lift them to new levels. We work with local leaders and then encourage them to develop their own ideas with the help of volunteers and provide them with the necessary skills and resources to carry out healthy development projects.

Currently, we are encouraging all of our volunteers to work with us through our sister organization, HELP International. For more information on HELP International and volunteer programs that will allow you to work with us in El Salvador, please visit their website!
